Kanzelhöhe H-alpha Images

These full-disk H-alpha images are taken at Kanzelhoehe Solar Observatory once every day if weather permits. The images are taken using our Überwachungsinstrument (patrol instrument). For further technical details about the data aquisition please click here.

The images (1008x1016 pixels, 1 byte) are centered and rotated (Solar-North is up) and saved in different formats. The filenames match the filenaming convention for SOHO synoptic data:

• FITS: The header is styled to match the "proposed Keywords for SOHO". No additional image processing is currently applied. The images are zipped using gzip. (abt. 330kB)
• JPEG: The images are half-sized, contrast- and limb-enhanced to make the prominences better visible. (abt. 35kB)

For future a flat-fielding and automatic exposure-time control is planned.
